A research project on the secrets of Techno-Europe.
The BND headquarter in Berlin. A 1 billion € palace expected to be finished in 2016. In front of this heavy secured, brutal architecture two steel palm trees are planted – a commissioned art-piece. This is a reminder that mass amounts of data pass through the tele communication poles every day, being collected and analysed behind solid walls.
With the industrial revolution came the glass palaces. Life without secrets took its form in architecture. Today we are told to live in a transparent society. A model of European democracy that ensures freedom, equality and brotherhood. But recently a fourth dimension has appeared. Safety first has become a standard to European governments. Turning enlightenment into darkness.
